We’re excited to announce the launch of Sound of Sleat, the latest expression from Torabhaig Distillery, a rising star among Scottish single malt whisky distilleries. This new release marks the fourth chapter in the acclaimed Torabhaig Legacy Series and is now available in the UK.
A Whisky Shaped by Sea and Spirit
Sound of Sleat is named after the narrow sea channel that runs alongside the distillery, and which separates the Sleat Peninsula on the Isle of Skye from mainland Scotland. The area, often referred to as The Garden of Skye, provides the breathtaking backdrop and inspiration for this unique Isle of Skye whisky.
Crafted using only Quercus Alba American oak casks—including both new oak and ex-bourbon barrels—this Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a true reflection of Torabhaig’s signature style: Smoke with Taste.
Tasting Notes: Elegance, Complexity, and Coastal Character
Torabhaig Sound of Sleat is a whisky that captures the untamed essence of the island, brought to life through a balanced, smoky profile and layered flavours.
NOSE: Notes of delicate orange lead followed by touches of apricot and popcorn lending sweetness to the maritime seaweed that echoes in the glass. Subtle pipe tobacco adds to the elegant smokiness and is rounded out by honey, vanilla and boiled sweets.
PALATE: Light and zesty oak spice is joined by the rich and sweet bonfire smokiness that is so unmistakably Torabhaig spirit. Subtly waxy with hints of honey and vanilla balancing sea salt and seaweed that ebbs away to white pepper and sweet spice.
FINISH: Like a sunset over the Sound of Sleat, this is lingering and elegant with notes of honey, storms and the ocean.
A Whisky with Artistic Soul
To honour the wild, expressive landscape of Skye, Torabhaig has also introduced new label artwork, starting with Sound of Sleat. The packaging features original work by Skye-based artist Ellis O’Connor, whose abstract style captures the dynamic movement and light of the sea. It’s a visual tribute to the place that shapes every drop of this exceptional whisky.
